Computer Science Curriculum Review and Implementation

Computer science is a discipline that encompasses the study of computers and algorithmic processes, including their principles, hardware and software designs, applications, networks, and impact on society. Computer science has quickly become foundational in our students' lives and impacts every aspect of society. Becoming proficient in computer science empowers students to be informed citizens, gives students the power and agency to collaboratively create new technologies to solve relevant societal problems, and creates opportunities in STEM related fields.

PRIORITIES

-Create computer science programming accessible to all students.
-Build common understanding of computer science
-Facilitate teacher understanding and student mastery of Wisconsin Standards for Computer Science
-Design standards aligned K-12 computer science scope and sequence
-Develop strategies to embed computational thinking into core content areas
-Ensure districts have the information they need to select high-quality instructional materials
-Provide professional learning that supports effective implementation
-Address Loss of Learning
-Support Recovery
