Educator Development and Support
There is an assumption that all teachers enter our schools "classroom ready." There are so many requirements from teachers in their first years of teaching that actually require more energy than the teaching itself. In addition to traditional challenges, teachers will need to be provided opportunities how to address learning loss and utilizing teaching tools in which universities had no way of providing because of the dynamic changes have occurred as a result of the pandemic. This service has been welcomed by first-year teachers, and they credit it with the support they need. Our building leaders are tasked with many requirements in today's educational world. This service supports and enhances existing mentoring programs, so new teachers feel supported. It can also be customized for the needs of individual schools. This investment is key in teaching retention. Teachers are also provided with confidential group sessions to learn specific strategies in their first years in which they can join virtually or in-person. Finally, teacher support in the first few years is critical to teacher retention. This program has received high marks from those who participated.
