English Learners: Getting Started with English Learners for Administrators (F2F/Virtual)

A growing number of students enrolling in private and charter schools may be bilingual; however, this doesn't mean they are English Learners (ELs). This 2-hour session is specially designed for administrators who must navigate the requirements of EL identification, reclassification and assessment in partnership with local education agencies as part of equitable participation. Administrators will learn about the EL identification process and also learn how to understand and interpret their school's ACCESS for ELLs assessment results for planning and decision making purposes and to help guide instruction. Some time will be dedicated to understanding funding options under Title III. This session will address the needs of English learners. It will also address implementing evidence-based activities to meet the comprehensive needs of students.
