English Learners: Policies and Practices for Supporting English Learners in Private and Charter
Students identified as English Learners (ELs) are a federally protected class of students. In this 1- hour awareness building session, participants working in private schools gain an understanding of rules and regulations for identifying, serving, assessing, and reclassifying students for whom English is not their first language. Participants will hear about instructional practices and learn about available resources for supporting ELs in learning English and academic content, Participants will also identify practices for connecting with EL families and how to understand English Language Proficiency assessments results.This session will address the needs of English learners. It will also address implementing evidence-based activities to meet the comprehensive needs of students.
