English Learners: Seal of Biliteracy Development through Application

Overview of the diverse pathways to bilingualism that are available to students. The Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy is available to any student who demonstrates having met program criteria for bilingual language proficiency, biliteracy, and socio-cultural competence. Successful district applications have evidence of planning, policies, and practices designed to promote additive bilingualism and equity to effective language learning. This session will address the needs of English learners. It will also address administering and using high-quality assessments that are valid and reliable, to accurately assess students' linguistic and academic progress and assist educators in meeting students' academic needs, as well as implementing evidence-based activities to meet the comprehensive needs of students.
