English Learners: Strategies for Developing a Comprehensible Context for Biliteracy Instruction
Language learning requires interaction. Learners learn best if their learning environments enable them to use language to explore, to seek meanings, to satisfy curiosities, to express their thoughts, to listen to different perspectives, and to validate others. Participants will engage in strategies that they can incorporate into their instructional routines to develop background knowledge and increase student?s oracy with academic language, and develop collaborative routines. This session will address the needs of English learners. It will also address implementing evidence-based activities to meet the comprehensive needs of students.
