It is a New Day: Leveage Coaching Skills and Leadership Dispositions to Shift Educators
Today requires a new way in which to lead. Leaders can no longer see themselves as "fixers", but rather conduits to teacher efficacy and this is critical post pandemic to address learning loss. Leaders must learn how to both inspire and teach the power of accountability in advancing student learning. The aim of this year long experience is to bring about sustained behavioral change by learning how to leverage personal leadership dispositions and skills to support employee discovered solutions. This allows leaders to internalize less responsibility while creating a culture of employee efficacy. Effective leaders have a significant impact on educator retention and student success. Who plays a major role in hiring, developing, evaluating, and supporting teachers? Of course, it is the principal. This means that the principal’s influence on student achievement goes well beyond the 5-10% that is identified in John Hattie's research.
