Designing an effective literacy program requires a school to create a blueprint for improving student achievement. A strong literacy plan requires the skillful use of data about student performance, literacy needs and expectations, the system's capacity for supporting literacy development, current teaching practices, and the effectiveness of the literacy program. CESA #11 literacy consultants will assist in the process of a literacy audit through collection and organization of data, provide tools for examining the current state of literacy throughout a building and/or system leading to a comprehensive plan of action that informs decisions about literacy curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional learning.
