Unruly Studios

Unruly Studios is the creator of Unruly Splats, the first STEM learning tool that combines coding with active-play. Students build their own games with programmable floor buttons that they can code to light up, make sounds, and collect points when stomped on to create active games like whack-a-mole and relay races. Unruly Studios' vision is to create an electronic playground that makes learning more playful, collaborative, and inclusive. Early exposure to STEM is critical for creating more diversity in tech. A lot of research shows that kids start to form identities around STEM in elementary school. At Unruly, we work to break down the stereotypes that kids tend to form around computers from an early age by combining coding with active games. Coding isn?t just for kids who love computer games--it?s for kids who love all kinds of games! It tends to be presented in an exclusive way - not approachable, not inviting - we flip that on its head and make STEM and CS inviting - more like a team sport.
